Idea for a day out
As of Monday, museums in Ghent will re-open –
including the “Wereld van Kina”, where an entire hall is dedicated to (a. o.) shells.
This hall was constructed (a. o.) by our newest member, and some of our more senior members also contributed indirectly.
Herewith a little teaser to make you feel like going for a visit. Want to know more about the museum? See https://dewereldvankina.stad.gent/
Online monthly meeting November
Our society has taken a new step today: due to Covid-19 we couldn’t meet in reality this morning, but we gathered online for the first time.
David Monsecour introduced us to the genus Cinctura (Fasciolariidae) and the most recent discoveries this genus has witnessed.
We can only conclude this was a successful experiment as 26 members showed up and we were especially pleased with the presence of some members who cannot attend our “normal” monthly meetings because of professional or practical reasons.
We’ll be having our annual shell quiz next month: let’s hope we’ll meet in reality, otherwise we’ll play online!
Monthly meeting November 2020
Because of the current measures with regard to the Covid-19 pandemic, we cannot organise our monthly meeting at the “Sint-Annacentrum” in Antwerp on Sunday 8 November. This means we’ll all have to stay home (again) and hope we’ll be able to meet again soon.
To make up for the loss of meeting in reality, we’ll be hosting an online meeting. If you want to participate and are not on our mailing list, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Monthly meeting 11 October 2020
This Sunday we will have our monthly meeting again.
As mentioned as one of the two possibilities last month, we will organise our annual shell exchange day . Attention: this will take place in het Spieken, the hall in the building behind the main hall.. Easiest is to park your car as usual, and then take the walkpath at the left hand side of the main building.
Apart from that, all COVID regulations which were already applicable last month will be applicable again. Good news for our Dutch friends: a “verblijf” means that you stay somewhere in Belgium for at the least 48 hours or at the least 1 overnight stay.
Hopefully untill Sunday!
Website Update – Database Gloria Maris available
As already announced during monthly meetings and in the last edition of Gloria Maris, we now have a searchable database containing all articles (title, author, tags, …) which were published in Gloria Maris since 1986.
This database (in MS Excel format) is now available via the “Tijdschrift”-page.
Foto’s of monthly meeting available
On October 11 we had our annual traditional shell-exchange-day. Our common friend COVID ensured a limited presence, but the atmosphere was very good as always.
Thanks to Freddy van Nieulande we now also have some photographs of the event.. Those can be found in the member zone (login first) under “Documents“. Thank you veru much, Freddy !
Hopefully we can see each other again next month !
